For the second time this week, Olwethu Makhanya earned league recognition as he was selected to MLS Team of the Matchday after Philadelphia Union's 2-1 win against CF Montreal.
With the result, the Boys in Blue held onto their first place spot at the top of the East, and it was Makhanya, the team's 21-year-old South African centerback, who scored the second half game-winner.
He put his team ahead with a header off a corner, and the goal marked his first-ever for the first team since signing almost exactly two years ago in July 2023.
In addition to his goal, he completed the most passes with 38, won three aerial duels, made nine clearances, four recoveries, and a block.
