Philadelphia Union announced that the club will host USL Championship side Indy Eleven, in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 on Wednesday, May 7th, at 7:30 ET.
The Union will be entering their 13th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup where the club has amassed a record of 19-8-4 in the Open Cup. The Union has a storied history in the prestigious tournament, having reached the Open Cup Finals in 2014, 2015, and 2018.
Indy Eleven comes to Philly after an extra time victory over Miami FC on Wednesday night. Neither USL Championship side could find much with a strong goalkeeping effort from former D.C. United shot stopper Bill Hamid keeping the match scoreless with key stops. In extra time, Indy Eleven notched a walk-off winner with a set piece from Hayden White in the third minute of stoppage time.
The Union were drawn into the No. 1 position of the Landon Donovan Group alongside Indy Eleven, Pittsburgh Riverhounds and New York City FC. With the Union being drawn first, the club would host the winner of NYCFC/PIT in the Round of 16.
