Philadelphia Union Homegrown Mark McKenzie is coming home.
After six years in Europe, McKenzie will return to the Boys in Blue as a Designated Player beginning January 1, 2027, adding another chapter to a Union journey that began when he first joined Union Juniors at age 11.
With his return now official, McKenzie spent the day with the Union content team capturing the photos and videos that helped welcome him back to Philadelphia.
Between photo stops throughout the stadium, he sat down to reflect on his journey back to the Union what he learned during his time in Europe, and what it means to once again represent his hometown club.
Sporting Director Jon Scheer also sat down to discuss the significance of bringing McKenzie back, detailing what the defender adds to the group on and off the field and how the signing fits into the club’s plans moving forward.
