Mikael Uhre's rally in the final moments of the match that led Philadelphia Union to a 3-1 comeback win have earned him MLS Team of the Matchday honors.
With the scoreline level at 1-1 against the Colorado Rapids, Uhre was sent on as a sub in the 73rd minute, making an immediate impact in the team's attack. In the 89th minute, the 30-year-old Dane found a pass from Indiana Vassilev at the top of the box, muscled past a Colorado defender, and booted it to the back of the net for the game-winning goal.
With just a one-goal lead, Philly didn't falter. Instead, Uhre scored another, this time beating his opponent to a loose ball on the right sideline and taking it straight to the net, where he found his second of the night.
The goals marked his third and fourth of the season, becoming the 5th player in Union history to score 40 or more Union goals for the team across all competitions.
With the win, the team jumped to first in the East and the Supporters' Shield standings, and after the final whistle, Uhre reflected on the importance of the result and his team's late determination.
"I'm on cloud nine. It's been a while, so it means aloto getting back on the scoresheet, but even more just helping the team get that win because this is huge," Uhre said.
"We're on a great run, and now we can keep going."
Uhre becomes the 12th different player from the Union to earn Team of the Matchweek honors joining Markus Anderson (Matchday 19), Andre Blake (Matchday 10), Tai Baribo (Matchday 1, 2 and 13), Bruno Damiani (Matchday 20), Ian Glavinovich (Matchday 5), Jakob Glesnes (Matchday 10), Nathan Harriel (Matchday 13), Jovan Lukic (Matchday 3), Olwethu Makhanya (Matchday 24 and 25), Quinn Sullivan (Matchday 2 and 9), Indiana Vassilev (Matchday 11 and 24) and Kai Wagner (Matchday 3 and 16).
