After helping secure a home shutout over the weekend, Philadelphia Union defender Jakob Glesnes was named to Major League Soccer's Team of the Matchday for Week 6, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Glesnes helped the Boys in Blue to scoreless draw against Sporting Kansas City for the club's second clean sheet of 2023. The Norwegian center back led the team with four won tackles and eight clearances as the visitors attacked from numerous set piece chances. Glesnes also won all nine of his duels and led the team in touches at 83.
Glesnes is the third member of Philadelphia Union to be named to the league's weekly honor joining Julian Carranza and Daniel Gazdag who were chosen during the opening weekend of the season.
