Philadelphia Union returns to Subaru Park on Saturday to take on Atlanta United in the first of two home matches to close April. It all goes down at 7:30pm -- tune in with MLS Season Pass on Apple TV to watch the action.
Philadelphia Union was back on campus in Chester this week, preparing to host a Saturday night matchup against a new-look Atlanta United side for the first time in 2025.
The Five Stripes, led by new Head Coach Ronny Deila, are coming to town fresh off a three game homestand at Mercedes-Benz stadium in which they earned one of each result – a win, a draw, and a loss, in that order. Philadelphia Union, having played two on the road and one at home in that same span, found two losses and a draw.
Atlanta United currenty sits at 11th in the Eastern Conference standings with just two wins so far this season, but not due to back of talent. In the offseason, they added marquee players in Emmanuel Latte Lath and Miguel Almiron, who've combined for seven of the team's nine total goals.
"It's still early, there's many twists and turns and their season will come, right? For sure, there's far too much talent on that team for things not to progress in the way that they need to, that it might take a little bit of time. It just shows you and puts context into our situation," Head Coach Bradley Carnell said of Atlanta on Thursday.
"Miguel Almiron comes back and he's a dangerous threat -- he's very good in the transition. He's electric both sides of the ball. He's a lot of pace and he runs a lot. They can hurt you in many ways. To be fair, we're going to have to be at the top of our game to mitigate them for the full 90 minutes."
Both teams will enter the match hungry for all three points, and Philadelphia Union has the chance to get back on the right track in front of Union faithful.
