After using their platforms on the pitch to bring awareness for equality, the final figures are in for the three Bethlehem Steel FC athletes that participated in June’s Playing for Pride benefitting Athlete Ally.

Team captain James Chambers, who aided in the initiative last year, was joined by Steel FC rookies Ben Ofeimu and Zach Zandi for the 2019 and the combined effort saw the trio combine for $125 in donations to Athlete Ally. Chambers and Zandi led the way with impressive June plays, each hitting the $45 mark while Ofeimu racked up $35.

Zandi, a West Chester, Pa. Native, had a strong month as well to hit the $45 mark. The midfielder made five appearances including one with Philadelphia Union in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. On top of his appearances, Zandi added two assists to reach his final total.

Defender Ben Ofeimu picked up a lot of momentum in the Steel’s last two matches of the month. After the first half of the month saw the Michigan native donate $15, the final two contests which included two starts, a win and clean sheet saw the total push to the $35 mark.

Overall, this year’s Playing for Pride finished with a total of over $10,000 being raised by all players for Athlete Ally in 2019.

Bethlehem Steel FC next travels to take on in-state rivals Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Thursday, July 4 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The match is set to be broadcast on ESPN+.
