Powered by a relentless second-half surge, CF Monterrey captured the Snow Bowl 2026 Presented by The SWAG and YSC Academy U-15 title with a dramatic 4–3 victory over Manchester United.
The No. 3 seed out of the group stage, Monterrey scored four times in the final 35 minutes to erase a 2–0 deficit and stun the English powerhouse in Saturday’s championship match.
Manchester United struck first in the 5th minute. Angus Murdock’s long ball unlocked space behind the Monterrey back line, and Ben Lyne ran onto it before lifting a one-touch volley over the goalkeeper for the opener. Just before halftime, Lyne struck again, redirecting a cross into the net to give United a 2–0 advantage at the break.
But the final turned in a flash.
Monterrey exploded out of halftime, leveling the match in a 90-second span. Romualdo Aguirre sparked the comeback by pressing high and blocking a clearance that looped into the goal. Moments later, he powered home his second to tie the match 2–2.
The Liga MX side took control in the 50th minute when César Abdiel Almaguer blasted home a loose clearance to give Monterrey its first lead. In the 58th minute, Emilio Nicolás Núñez converted from the penalty spot after Aguirre was taken down in the box, extending the lead to 4–2.
Manchester United refused to go quietly. Golden Boot winner Jaice Dore earned a penalty in the 61st minute. After seeing his first attempt saved, he was granted a retake due to an infraction and buried the second chance to cut the deficit to 4–3 with his fifth goal of the tournament.
Despite heavy late pressure and six minutes of stoppage time, Monterrey’s defense held firm to secure the Snow Bowl U-15 Trophy.
