Philadelphia Union have partnered with the Philadelphia Youth Network and its WorkReady program to bring new internship opportunities to students from the Chester area.
The inaugural intern selected to take part in the WorkReady program with the Union is Brittney Pless. Pless grew up in the Chester area currently attends Temple University. Brittney will be assisting the Communications Department during her internship.
The WorkReady program offers educationally based work opportunities to young adults ranging from age 14 to 21-years-old. The program offers participants a six-week paid job experience that allows students to obtain marketable skills in the work community. The Philadelphia Youth Network has a branch in the City of Chester as well as throughout the Philadelphia Region.
The Union are working directly with this Chester branch to provide local residents a chance to gain valuable experience within the sports industry. The organizationās strong relationship in the community allows the program to be a good match for both parties.
āOur strong relationship with the Mayorās Office in Chester has allowed us to continue to expand our internship program here at the Philadelphia Union,ā said Leah Moore, manager of Business Development and Foundation for the Union.
The WorkReady program provides experiential opportunities for candidates who are both in and out of school. For the Union, the target scenario was to work with college students in the program so they could better assimilate into the organizationās already established internship class.
Philadelphia Union continue to work with the community as they look to provide a high level of experiential learning within the sports industry and beyond.
